Often, people turn to therapy because they are having problems in certain areas of their lives. Getting to therapy can be a struggle, though. Many of us find it difficult to take the time to stop and reflect upon how our problems evolved and what we can do to change them.

What psychotherapy has to offer is access to our emotional worlds. It is through the expression and understanding of our inner worlds that we can put these “problems” into perspective. This new insight provides us with a context for understanding ourselves, and how we relate to others. Change is the result of transforming our relationships – both with ourselves and with others.

This process of understanding one’s inner world is a collaborative one. In fact, an important part of the change process is the relationship that develops through this collaboration.
